When someone does research, the researcher must form a hypothesis based on the research and its findings. As like that the researcher should be able to predict the relationship between variables of the research and there by should do the research to test the formed hypothesis.
At end of the research, when the hypothesis is tested and if it met the task, it is successful, if not the researcher has to change some variables and do the research again.
The way how the research is conducted will decide, how far the researcher is able to meet the hypothesis which was predicted. Technically it is possible to create research questions to check the relationship between the different variables.
